To make the most of it, it’s imperative to have a strong support system. A list of colleagues, friends, coaches, family members, etc. will help you navigate your journey. The following strategies will help you foster such relationships.
For starters, face time is essential. Social media is a useful tool when it comes to reaching out and following up with people. It isn’t the best platform on which to build meaningful bonds, however. It’s far better to interact with people in person, perhaps at conferences, meetups, and other events.
Community giving is part of the Primus Management Group mission. We support worthy causes, of course, but we also give back to the network connections who are so supportive of us. Such assistance may involve introductions and referrals, book recommendations and similar resources, or even just some friendly encouragement.
Follow up is another aspect of effective networking. One conversation isn’t enough to forge a lasting bond, after all. Regular check-ins, whether through text, phone, or email, remind others that we’re thinking about them and ready to help as needed.
